Today's Reading
Joshua. It's a dangerous thing to think we can conquer spiritual enemies with our own strength. God's people discovered that in Ai. They used strategy to win, but only after they cleaned their spiritual house. It's a great lesson for our lives.
Luke. I'm challenged by Jesus' powerful instructions about money. What do you think?
Psalms. When we have money or strength or freedom, we must use them well to help those without. Or God may take away what we have.
Proverbs. I have always tried to talk myself out of stressful situations. Sometimes, according to this passage, it's not the best.
How are you doing with your reading? What thoughts do you have?

All I can say to the last verse in our Proverbs passage is:
ReplyDeleteAmen and Amen! Tis True
Warfare is an old art. In Joshua we see the tactics used by commanders and the success given due to diligence in following God's orders. It's a simple recipe: select a good crop of warriors, give specific orders, use the element of surprise, and dominate. Wisdom has many forms, sometimes it is keeping things simple.
ReplyDeleteI never noticed this verse before-
ReplyDeleteAnd it is true that the children of this world are more shrewd in dealing with the world around them than are the children of the light.
But it makes so much sense and is so insightful.
Thanks to each of you for posting!
ReplyDeleteLara, I think it's interesting how that verse speaks to you. I chew on it and chew on it. It's something I go back and forth on. Is it good that the world's children are more shrewd? Or is it just true? Should the children of light become more shrewd? Or is it better that we stay innocent to the world's devices?
Still chewing...
